Bristol Photo Festival, Now – 3 January

Bristol Photo Festival is a new biennial festival to celebrate the power and diversity of photography. This year’s theme is ‘A Sense of Place’, which will be captured by local and international photographers through exhibitions, educational programmes, talks and seminars in locations around the city. Exhibitions opening this month include ‘Island Life: Photographs from the Martin Parr Foundation’ at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, which will showcase images by over 60 photographers depicting different cultures and lives across post-war Britain.

Bristol Craft Beer Festival, 11-13 June

Bristol is known for its craft beer scene so where better to celebrate local, and national, brewers than Bristol Craft Beer Festival? Over the course of the weekend, there will be more than 30 different breweries, including Bristol Beer Factory and Newtown Park, pouring a variety of lagers and ales. Local street food vendors will be serving different tasty dishes and there’ll also be live music, making this an event not to be missed!

Jekka’s HerbFest, 2-4 July

Jekka’s HerbFest will take place for the first time this summer, a three-day celebration of herbs and their culinary and medicinal uses. There will be talks, workshops and demonstrations from the likes of radio personality Matthew Biggs and two Michelin star chef Nathan Outlaw, who’s appeared on Great British Menu and Saturday Kitchen. Visitors will also be able to browse the herbarium, home to more than 400 different herbs grown at the farm, and purchase artisan crafts from local businesses.
