As we head towards Spring and the possibility of lockdown restrictions easing we’re all starting to think about where we’d like to visit and explore. For our new homeowners at Jesmond Assembly there’s a whole host of places right on your doorstep, you simply have to hop on the Metro link.

With the Metro station a mere 3-minute walk from the community it is so easy to explore the stunning neighbouring areas located in and around Jesmond and a little further afield. We have rounded up some of our favourite stops along the Metro line for you to keep in mind once we are able to get out and explore once again!

Brownies anyone?

Just one stop North of the Jesmond Metro is West Jesmond, home to an abundance of cosy corner cafes and bustling bistros. A must visit at this particular stop is Cake Stories Coffee House and Cake Shop where you’ll be spoilt for choice with their selection of mouth-watering brownies. Their cake, brownies and coffee are incredibly popular and a must try.

If you simply can’t wait to visit then you can make the most of their Letterbox Bakes and have a delectable selection delivered to your doorstep, we’ve got our eye on The Raspberry one!

Meet you by the Quayside

If you take the Metro from Jesmond South just three stops you will arrive at Central Station. Here you will be greeted by the hustle and bustle of Central Newcastle, only a six minute journey from our Jesmond Assembly community.

Once here we recommend that you wander on down to the Quayside where you can see the famous Tyne Bridge. After, why not choose from one of the many restaurants that are located on the riverside. We recommend the River Beat which offers a delicious menu of Asian Tapas dishes and every table has a gorgeous view of the river.

Picnic in the Park

As we all know, Jesmond Assembly is located next to Newcastle’s most gorgeous and expansive green space, the Town Moor. But if you wanted to expand your outdoor horizons why not head over to Monument Station for a stroll around the lovely Eldon Square.

Once you have had your fill of fresh air, the Eldon Square shopping centre is just a short walk away where you can enjoy some much missed retail therapy.

Anyone for a kick around?

For any football fans just a short 10 minute journey from the Jesmond Metro station is St. James’s Park, the hilltop football stadium home to the Newcastle United Football Club.

A day out at the seaside

Just 38 minutes from Jesmond on the Metro is Whitley Bay, a seaside town with a beautiful sandy beach. The perfect place to visit for a sunny day out. As well as strolls along the beach you can pay a visit to the historic St Mary’s Lighthouse which was created in 1898 and remained operational until 1984. If you climb the 137 steps to the top you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the North East Coast. You’ll also be spoilt for choice for spots for a coffee, lunch, or dinner at the iconic Spanish City.
