Independent living in Newcastle: Welcome to Jesmond Assembly

Construction is well underway on our Pegasus Jesmond Assembly community in Newcastle, so we sat down with local sales adviser, Rose Miller, to talk about what life could be like for our new homeowners.
Can you tell us a bit about the new homes?
We’ve got 63 lovely homes at Pegasus Jesmond Assembly, a combination of one- and two-bedrooms, with some duplexes available too. Some of the homes benefit from private outside space such as gardens, balconies and terraces, but there are also communal areas internally and outside for all to enjoy.
Many of our prospective homeowners are looking for two-bedroom homes, wanting to downsize to a maintenance-free lifestyle but also have that all-important extra space for family and friends to visit. As a result, the guest suite has generated a lot of interest, especially as so few developers offer this.
Quite a few of our reservations have come from the local area, but we’ve also got one couple relocating from the south west to be closer to family. They knew about Pegasus because of our Falmouth community and once they heard we had homes coming soon in the north, they made their reservation and are looking forward to moving into their new home very soon.
What all of our customers have in common though is the fact they are seeking contemporary, independent living and their own space, but also the community elements such as the communal lounge, kitchen and terrace where they can meet up with their new neighbours, friends and family.
Have you got any top recommendations to visit in and around Jesmond?
There are so many great places to eat and drink in Jesmond, but one of my favourites has to be Café 1901 as it’s cosy and friendly, with amazing food on the menu. It’s also dog friendly, which is great news for any of our potential homeowners moving with their furry friend. Jesmond Dene House also does a fantastic afternoon tea and tasting menu, if you’re looking for a special occasion or something new and exciting to try.
For outside space, Exhibition Park is always a good day out for a lovely walk on a sunny day. It’s also home to Wylam Brewery, a micro-brewery, bar and event space which often hosts live music and street festivals.
What do you love most about working in Jesmond?
I really enjoy getting to know our prospective homeowners, understanding their lives and what is bringing them to us in Newcastle. Helping them with their moving journey and being able to see that smile at the end, is what it’s all about!
Can you tell us a bit about your background? Have you always been in sales?
I completed a degree in architecture but decided to pursue a career in teaching, so I retrained and taught engineering and design technology in secondary education. Following that, I decided to go back into the property sector, where I worked in new homes sales for Urban Splash/Places for People in conjunction with Sanderson Young Estate Agents. I’ve found my background in architecture to be advantageous because I can discuss the more technical aspects of the building and answer any questions potential buyers may have.
What is your favourite feature of Pegasus Jesmond Assembly?
The architect in me loves the way the building has been designed. It’s in keeping with the existing Edwardian and Victorian properties and style, but uses the sustainable, modern materials that are so important in this day and age.
