It’s very nice living at One Bayshill Road, it’s like living in a hotel.”

Marian Venn One Bayshill Road

Meet Marian Venn, homeowner at One Bayshill Road, in the beautiful spa town, Cheltenham. Marian has been keen on sports her entire life, resulting in her becoming: a Head of PE, a sports coach at The Cheltenham’s Ladies College and St Paul’s teacher training college.

Marian also spent 23 years as a swim coach at Dean Close public school as well as lecturing teacher courses nationally as a senior tutor for the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).

Back in June Marian was honoured to have carried the baton through Cheltenham’s Pittville Park at the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games.

It was lovely getting to sit down with Marian to find out about her life and what encouraged her to make the move to One Bayshill Road.

Prior to living in One Bayshill Road, Marian spoke with us about her previous home in Cheltenham, a 5 bedroom house with a large swimming pool, “it cost me so much money to maintain and was so much work.” She continued, “moving to One Bayshill Road meant I don’t have as much responsibility anymore, it’s very much easy living and the people here are lovely.” As Marian already lived in Cheltenham, moving to One Bayshill Road meant she was still able to enjoy memberships of clubs and friendships that she’s had in town for many years.

One of the things that attracted Marian most about One Bayshill Road is that she can just put her swimming costume on, and go straight down to the wellness centre - the perfect destination to unwind as well as to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

In the wellness centre there is a herbal sauna, salt and steam room, hydrotherapy pool and gym. Tara Bailey the beautician also offers reflexology, massages, hot stone therapy and other beauty treatments that Marian thoroughly enjoys.

Marian said she was set on a one bedroom apartment, a balcony and really liked the design of the apartments. “It’s very nice living, it's modern, and it’s like living in a hotel. It’s a privilege to live here. I wish I had moved sooner.” Marian told us that during her move, she took advantage of Aprico, our trusted partner for the Homemoves Service “they were very good, they took a lot of my stuff to the charity shops. I found them excellent, it was a great bonus!” Aprico offers a range of services to help our homeowners have as smooth a move as possible. Aprico supports them part way with any items by primarily donating to their partnership charities and if anything can't be donated they will dispose of them safely.

Community was also another benefit to her move, as Marian loves socialising with people outwith and within One Bayshill Road. Marian shared how the One Bayshill community regularly comes together for social events “we have very well attended drinks every Friday night in the library, often followed by supper in the restaurant. We also have a book club and pilates classes. I think it’s nice because people can pick and choose what they want to be part of.”

She likes that everyone regularly comes together.
