“Living in Steepleton has exceeded my expectations.” 

Stanley Smith, is a retired mechanical engineer who recently moved to Steepleton in Tetbury. After Stanley's wife passed away he realised the 4 bedroom house that he called home for 56 years was too large and instead he would prefer a smaller place with plenty of opportunities to socialise. 

After a short period of time searching Stanley came across Steepleton and thought “it was a strong possibility” due to it being only 10 miles from his home at the time and his daughter living just a 30 minute drive away. 

Stanley told us “the thing I liked most about Steepleton was the independent living and having 24/7 security. My daughter took me to see Steepleton and I was introduced to the Sales Advisor. She was lovely and showed me around the apartment I am currently living in. I loved it immediately.” Stanley continues “the apartment I find very convenient, it is very well designed from the ergonomic point of view. I really can’t fault it - it’s very comfortable.” 

When speaking about his move to Steepleton Stanley said “I didn’t find it a problem moving house. Although it’s an apartment it has an open aspect with a nice balcony. I think it’s great! Of course, there are one or two things I miss from the previous house but generally it has worked out very well for me.” When Stanley came to visit in early December he told us there was a Christmas Event on at the time with mulled wine, mince pies and a string quartet, he shares “ It was very nice and what impressed me the most was the Steepleton community  who came over to speak to me and made me feel very welcome. They are such a warm and welcoming group of people.”  

Stanley likes to take part in all the activities at Steepleton, including: bridge, group booking at The Woolsack Kitchen, board games and tai chi to name a few. 

Stanley also shared “Harriet and Nina (General Manager and Lifehost respectively), play an important role in our lives here at Steepleton. They are dedicated to the community and are always at hand to help us in any way they can - always with a smile. They are much loved and appreciated by us all.” 

Not only does Stanley enjoy living in Steepleton but he loves living in Tetbury “it has everything you need such as nice pubs, great restaurants, hotels and a medical centre right in the centre of town. I couldn’t wish for anything better. There is warmth here in the community."
