PegasusLife Group celebrates two Housing Design Awards

12 July 2019

PegasusLife at Housing Design Awards 2019

Specialist retirement property developer, PegasusLife Group, has won two awards in the HAPPI category at the Housing Design Awards (HDA), for its Hortsley development in Seaford and Steepleton development in Tetbury - and celebrated alongside some of their owners.

The awards, now in their 71st year, champion both unbuilt projects and completed schemes that provide ‘replicable innovations to current housing design challenges’. They are the only awards promoted by all five major professional institutions: RICS, RIBA, RPTI, Landscape Institute and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.  The judging panel is drawn from independent experts across the industry and completes on-site visits to the developments to speak with owners, locals and industry stakeholders before making their decision.

The PegasusLife Group is one of the UK’s largest providers of age-exclusive properties, comprising of two brands, PegasusLife and Renaissance Retirement. Together, both brands aim to raise the bar to a higher quality standard of living for over 60s and currently have a development portfolio of around 50 sites across the UK in varying stages of development.

Hortsley HAPPI Award Winner

Hortsley by PegasusLife is a development in Seaford, Sussex. Designed by architects RCKa, Hortsley is comprised of 38 one- and two-bedroom apartments and features a wide range of amenities and spaces designed to increase natural interaction between residents. These include a communal garden with a generous courtyard, private lawn and central pond. There are also winter galleries, accessible from every apartment, for owners to enjoy all year round whatever the weather.

The owners at Hortsley took part in a video testimonial for the awards and were invited to attend the HDA ceremony in London to celebrate this important event with the PegasusLife Group.

Steepleton, Tetbury

Steepleton by PegasusLife in Tetbury is set in the heart of the Cotswolds and was designed by Proctor & Matthews architects. The layout for the first phase of the development is inspired by local almshouses and farmsteads, with apartments built around central kitchen gardens and interlocking courtyards. The one and two bedroom apartments are spread across six buildings, which are connected by cloistered walkways to create a sociable atmosphere for residents.

Ali Powell, Chief Commercial Officer at PegasusLife Group said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to win accolades at the Housing Design Awards, for not one but two of our developments.

We work hard to create a truly outstanding offer for our owners. The PegasusLife brand is all about using innovative design to create properties that foster a true sense of community and a lifestyle that is centred on wellness and social interaction.

We’re pleased that the judges were able to see this for themselves at their site visits, and the awards are a great recognition of the hard work from everyone involved.”

The PegasusLife Group builds homes designed to cater for discerning retirees who are looking for flexible, independent living that allows for family visits, are conveniently located and have a social setting that can allow owners to truly live well.
