Redland Amenities Society awards The Vincent a Gold Star

Later living developer, Pegasus, part of Lifestory, is delighted to announce that The Vincent, it’s later living community in Bristol’s Redland neighbourhood, has won a Gold Star Award from the Redland and Cotham Amenities Society. The Vincent, a stylish collection of one, two- and three-bedroom later living apartments, encompasses a comprehensive and sympathetic restoration of Queen Victoria House and the construction of two new residential blocks, of contemporary design, by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM).

The Gold Star Awards are presented at the Redland and Cotham Amenities Society’s Annual General Meeting, which this year was held via Zoom, on 12th November. The Awards celebrate good quality developments completed in the last year which can be clearly seen by the public.

Mike Gill, Regional Managing Director of Lifestory North & Midlands, who presented The Vincent at the AGM, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in this way by the local civic society, the Redland and Cotham Amenities Society. When we were restoring Queen Victoria House back to its former glory and constructing the two new build blocks that make up The Vincent, we were conscious of the historic importance locally. The challenge was to marry the new and the old, to design an innovative later living community with the specific focus on creating exceptional quality homes, whilst protecting and enhancing the area and its architecture. We feel, to have won a Gold Star Award is a fantastic acknowledgement of that achievement. Thank you to the society for the award and their support for The Vincent. ”

Established for over 20 years, nominations come through the Society’s 700 plus strong membership, collected from property owners, architects and Society members. The nominations are short listed and then undergo a formal site inspection by the judging panel, comprised of active members.

Simon Birch, a Society member and one of Judges, said of the decision: “I think we had a greater number of nominations from our members this year as more were out walking during lockdown. The Panel was impressed by the sympathetic restoration of Queen Victoria House, built in 1886 and an unlisted building of merit. The building now looks very impressive from Redland Hill and from surrounding viewpoints. The Panel considered the overall development makes a positive contribution to this part of Redland, providing residential accommodation in a high-quality environment.”
