Local housebuilder provides support to Deptford Reach

Deptford Reach, part of Thames Reach, a local charity that helps support people who have been affected by homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues and social isolation has received a £500 donation from London property developer, Anthology. The donation would ordinarily contribute towards Deptford Reach’s annual Christmas meal, but the due to the pandemic, the funds donated by Anthology will instead allow for more winter essentials such as meals, food packages and warm clothes to be distributed to people who need it most in the Deptford community.

Deptford Reach is a small charity that is solely reliant on volunteers to help local vulnerable people rebuild their lives. The charity provides a safe place to access practical help: to eat a homemade meal; to take a shower; to get support with CV writing; or to give visitors an address to use for job applications and GP sign-ups; as well as providing IT support to find jobs in the local area.

Ben Allen, Development Director for Anthology Deptford Foundry commented: “We’ve worked closely with Deptford Reach for some time now, having provided both financial support, but also supporting with over 250 hours of volunteering time – helping the centre in a number of different ways. At Anthology, we have a passion to get involved to support charities and community groups from a personal point of view, so we have all really enjoyed getting to know Deptford Reach and the people they support through our volunteering days with the charity.

“Demand for the centre’s services has always been high, but of course has been exacerbated with the pandemic, so offering some financial support during these testing times where we are restricted with social distancing, was an easy decision for us. Over its 40-year history the centre has benefited so many local people and changed their lives for the better. We are extremely proud of our relationship with Deptford Reach which fully encapsulates our commitment to having a positive impact on the communities where we build our homes.”

Jordan McTigue, Lead Manager at Deptford Reach said: “This year has seen a significant change to the way our services work, but we have adapted and ensured that vulnerable people who need our help aren’t left behind. We’re extremely grateful to Anthology for this generous donation, it will really make a difference to our clients over the Winter months. Anthology has been great supporters of Thames Reach over the years and we’re looking forward to continue working with them over the years to come.”

Anthology Deptford Foundry currently has a collection of one, two- and three-bedroom homes with Help to Buy available. Prices start from £455,000 for a one-bedroom home. For more information contact: 020 7526 9229 / [email protected]
